Organic Cotton

Organic Cotton is grown using only natural fertilisers and non genetically modified seeds. Waste water is treated so no contamination is released into the environment. Finishing leaves no dye, bleach or chemical residue.

Organic farming methods maintain soil quality meaning rain water is held in the soil, thus reducing wasted water. It also ensures farmers can reuse seeds and grow mixed crops helping their families and reduce financial risk.

Did you know?

Traditional cotton production uses 10% of world pesticides and 25% of world insecticides, strong chemical agents that pollute the ecosystem.

re-gen cotton

Re-gen cotton is produced by collecting and sorting waste cotton which is blended with recycled polyester from plastic waste bottles to then be re-spun and knitted into new garments.

On average, 0.22kg of cotton waste and 19 plastic bottles are used in a re-gen cotton garment.

ENVIRONMENTAL SAVINGS

  • Reduction in land mass needed to grow new cotton.

  • 200g reduction of pesticides and fertilisers.

  • 3.2KwH reduction in energy usage.

  • 20,000 litre reduction in water usage.

  • 2.7kg reduction of dye and chemical usage.

  • 11kg reduction of CO2 emissions.

Recycled polyester

Recycled polyester takes PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles that are crushed, cleaned and re-polymerised to polyester chips. The polyester chips are then melted and extruded to then be spun into yarn for knitting.

Benefits

Recycling polyester greatly reduces pollution of our soil, air and water. It also contributes to reducing landfill waste.

Recycling existing polyester saves 33-53% of our energy resources when compared to virgin polyester, as well as further reducing our use of petroleum and fossil fuels.
